David Zimmer, President of ERIEBANK, is pleased to announce the winners of ERIEBANK’s 8 Great Charities,
a contest awarding a total of $8,000 to local non-profit organizations.
Online voters chose New Blossoms New Life as the first place winner of a $3,000 cash prize from ERIEBANK. The second place winner of $1,500 is Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary, and third place with a $1,000 prize is awarded to Erie Trap and Release. In addition to these winners, the following organizations will each receive $500 from ERIEBANK: AJO Forever Foundation, Achievement Center, Anna Shelter, Emma’s Footprints, and Erie Animal Network.
“At ERIEBANK, we cultivate a culture of giving back to the community, especially through volunteerism. So on behalf of our entire team that gives so freely of their time and talent, I am proud to present awards to these 8 Great Charities,” Mr. Zimmer said. “Likewise, we are thrilled to support 8 Great Tuesdays because it enables the community to come together and celebrate some of our region’s best assets. This year that included eight charities that work on behalf of others every day. We are thrilled and proud to support them.”
Complementing its major sponsorship of ERIEBANK’s 8 Great Tuesdays, the Bank kicked-off the contest July 11 with a two-week nomination period. Individuals voted for their favorite local charity on social media to determine the top eight charities which would be eligible to receive prizes. For six weeks thereafter, voters on the Bank’s Facebook page cast more than 21,000 ballots for their choice of charity to win the top prize.
To be eligible for the contest, non-profits were required to be designated as IRS 501(c)(3) organizations and be located in and serve the Erie community. Contest rules and regulations
are available on ERIEBANK’s website.
